3rd Grade Recorders
As part of the general music curriculum, all Howard County students in third grade play the recorder, a small woodwind instrument, in their music class. Recorders can be purchased through the school for $4. Payment can be by cash, or check payable to DRES. Payment can also be made through Online School Payments at dres.hcpss.org/resources (4% processing fee).

Measures of Academic Progress (MAP) Testing

GT Information Night
On October 8th at 6:00, we will have our GT Information Night for Parents. In order to consolidate information for our families and community, we have changed our GT Back to School Night and rescheduled it to be included in the October 8th event. Please note that September 25th will be the 3-5 Back to School Night where families will receive information from the child’s homeroom teacher only, beginning at 6:30pm. GT Math Class Expectations will be shared with the parents of students in GT math through Canvas and a flyer. An overview of the entire GT program for K-5 at Deep Run will be shared on October 8th, including information about the 4th and 5th grade GT math courses, curriculum, and sequence.
Parking at Arrival and Dismissal
Please do not use the Sherwood apartments parking areas at arrival and dismissal. This is private property and they will contact the police and/or have cars towed.

School Meals
HCPSS participates in the Free and Reduced Meals (FARMs) program. Students (PreK-12) who meet the federal income guidelines are eligible to receive free or reduced-price meals. Applications are available on-line or in paper forms. A new application needs to be submitted each year.
