We heard from you in our Parent Survey asking for resources supporting your child's emotional well-being with a focus on mood changes, social isolation & development. Even in the Elementary years, schoolwork, friends, reactions to negative experiences, or just the anticipation of something happening can overwhelm a child. With all of these everyday occurrences, many parents report about the anxiety and stress that it puts on their children and the entire family. Attend this workshop to:

§  Review the signs and the symptoms of worry in children
§  Understand how to identify what is causing your child stress
§  Learn techniques to teach and demonstrate strategies to help your child...process and work through their worries
§  Ask questions to a mental health professional on how to help your family

The primary focus is on families of elementary-aged students, with some consideration to middle school as well.

Parent Teacher Conferences in February

Quarter 2 Report Cards Will be Available Online February 5th

You may recall that due to the challenges with adjusting to virtual learning, the Howard County Public School System made some temporary changes to grading that may have been reflected on your child’s Q1 Report Card. Specifically, students in primary grades earned either an I (Independent) or W (With assistance) if they had engaged in synchronous instruction,  and students in intermediate grades received A, B or C grades if they had engaged in synchronous instruction.

As was mentioned at the time, those changes were put in place for 1st quarter only. For Q2 SY20-21 grades, teachers will assign the appropriate grade based on student performance. In the primary grades that means students may receive an I (Independent), W (With Assistance), or N (Not Apparent at this Time). In the intermediate grades, students may receive any grade from A to E.

If you have any questions about 2nd quarter grading, please contact your child’s teacher.
