Deep Run Heroes is an educational initiative that has two primary goals:
To provide positive role models for the students, demonstrating by their presence, that education is important.
To provide an extra set of eyes and ears throughout the school building during the student day.
Who are Deep Run Heroes and how does it work?
Deep Run Heroes invites parents and guardians to volunteer at least one day, all day, at Deep Run during the school year. An information session will take place on January 13th at 8:40 am-9:00 am. Bring your child(ren) and enjoy a donut as you learn more about the program.
Deep Run Heroes performs a variety of tasks during their volunteer day including monitoring the school entrance, assisting with unloading and loading of buses and cars, monitoring the lunch room, and helping in the classroom with a teacher’s guidance by working with small groups of students on classwork.
Next steps:
All volunteers must complete a Confidentiality Training Course about protecting the privacy of our students, staff, and schools, and the Child Abuse and Neglect Training about reporting any suspicion of child abuse or neglect to Howard County Department of Social Services.
