PTA Family Fun Night--Bingo

The Deep Run PTA is sponsoring a family fun night of Bingo on November 9th.

Parent Teacher Conferences--Sign Up Now

Parent teacher conferences will be held in the afternoon and evening of Monday, November 19th and Tuesday, November 20th.  A few teachers are not working the evenings of the 19th and 20th and will offer conferences on the 21st. This is a time for the classroom teacher and parents to sit together and review the progress being made at school.  This fall our conferences will focus on Language Arts. The collaboration between parents and teachers is very valuable in a child's academic life.  The window for parents to sign up for parent conferences opened on Monday, November 5th.  Click here for directions in signing up. PTA Fall Fundraiser Pick-Up on Tuesday

For those families who ordered from the PTA Fall Fundraiser - Thank you!  Orders will be delivered on Tuesday 11/13.  Please come to the cafeteria between 5:00-7:00 to pickup your order. Remember, all food orders come frozen so you need to pick them up same day. Thank you!

American Education Week

On Monday, November 12th we will kick off American Education Week! Parents are welcome to visit the classrooms anytime during this week without giving 24 hour notice to school staff. Monday is the traditional elementary visitation day but you are welcome to visit any day during the week.  Students will bring home their daily schedule to assist you in making your visit.  We look forward to seeing you!

Kindness Week School-Wide Lunch Bunch--November 16th

Next week is American Education Week and also Kindness Week at Deep Run Elementary.  Our Deep Run Student Council is organizing a school-wide lunch bunch on Friday, November 16th in the cafeteria.  Parents are invited to join their child(ren) for lunch.  The Student Council has put together some fun activities for the lunch bunch and we hope you can join us:

School Psychologist Awareness Week--November 12-16

School psychologists work with students, staff, and families to promote the social-emotional, behavioral, and academic success of all students and to ensure a safe and nurturing school environment.  The following HCPSS link describes the many supports offered by school psychologists:  https://www.hcpss.org/schools/psychological-services/  We are very appreciative of our school psychologists, Amy Manner and Dan Carr!

Thanksgiving Produce Giveaway on November 18th

The North American headquarters of the Adventist Church is hosting its annual Thanksgiving Produce Giveaway, next Sunday, November 18, from 10 a.m.- 2 p.m. They will be in the church parking lot, giving away 25,000 lbs of fresh fruits and veggies, plus a few non-perishable items.

Volunteers--We Need You!

Volunteers are wanted and needed at Deep Run Elementary to assist with a variety of activities across the school.  Please look in your child's Wednesday folder on October 31st for a green volunteer interest form in English and Spanish.  Complete the form and return it to school.  We'll follow up with you!

Mobile Science Lab Returns to Deep Run ES

We are excited to share that Deep Run will once again host the Maryland Agricultural Education Foundation Mobile Aquatic Science Lab the week of December 10th.

DRES Student Council Coat Drive
 
The DRES Student Council is collecting new or clean and gently used coats and jackets for Deep Run Elementary students to wear this fall and winter! There will be a collection box inside of the lobby until November 9.

Save the Date--PTA Holiday Shoppe Coming December 7th

Mark your calendars! The Holiday Shoppe is coming, the Holiday Shoppe is coming! Enjoy a wonderful evening of shopping fun for parents and children! The children shop for family and friends in the cafeteria, with the help of “elves”, who help with selection and budgeting. Items range in price from $0.25 ‐ $10.00. While the children are making their purchases, and having them wrapped, parents can enjoy shopping at the holiday craft fair located in the gymnasium.
