Take advantage of this challenging situation and come to school to have lunch with your child, volunteer during recess, or help out in your child's classroom. Contact your child’s teacher or our Family Contact Glenna Deekle at glenna_deekle@hcpss.org if you are interested in volunteering.
Scholastic Book Fair Coming in February
The Scholastic Book Fair will open at Deep Run for a preview sale on February 8 from 5-7 pm. It will be open from February 11 through February 15 during school hours. Extended sale hours will be available on Thursday, February 14th from 1-7pm.
Clothing to Cash
Have your children outgrown any of their clothes? Do you need to clean out some of your clothes to make room for new ones? Drop the stuff you don't need in the white bin in our school parking lot (put them in a plastic bag first and tie it up). Our PTA earns money for each pound of clothing donated. In December, the PTA earned $137.50. The PTA uses these funds to support a number of special programs for your children.
You can donate clothing, footwear, bed linens, towels, accessories (handbags, backpacks, gloves, scarves), and stuffed animals. Bag the items, tie the bag, and place it in the white bin.

Attention Parents/Guardians of 5th Graders
It is time for the families of 5th Grade students to begin the planning process for the transition of your children to middle school! Your child brought home in Wednesday's folder important paperwork describing options for participation in music classes in middle school (chorus, band and strings). This is important because your child's choices will drive other aspects of scheduling. The music performance selection forms are due to your child's teacher by January 18th. There is a parent orientation at Mayfield Woods Middle School on January 15th at 5:45 to assist you with your selections.
