The Howard County Library's Pop-Up Library is coming to Deep Run Park on Wednesday, January 26th from 2-4 pm. This is for children, ages infant to age 5, and their caregiver. The Pop-Up Library will also be in Deep Run Park on February 9th and 23rd.
Mayfield Woods Middle School Parent Information Night Rescheduled to January 25
Mayfield Woods Middle School is offering a virtual parent information night for 5th grade parents. The focus is on the overall transition to middle school and scheduling. Information about the Gifted and Talented program will begin at 5:30 and general information will begin at 6:30. Use your child's computer login, and join the google meet using the code: MWMSParentInformation.

The DRES Pet Supply Drive is being sponsored by our 3rd Grade Umoja Leaders Group in honor of the MLK Day of Service. Donation boxes are in each grade level pod area for students to donate supplies during the month of January. Supplies include used blankets, sheets, and towels, wet or dry food, new or used pet toys, bowls, or newspapers.
All donations will go to the Howard County Animal Control and Adoption Center.
Free Tax Preparation Services
MakingChange, Inc. partners with the Internal Revenue Service under the Volunteer Income Tax Assistance Program (VITA) to offer free income tax preparation services for low-to-moderate income families, making $57,000 or less, who need assistance preparing their tax returns.
Participants in this virtual community academy on January 29th will learn about the most popular social media sites students are accessing and effective practices for keeping children safe when using social media.
This session is open to parents/guardians of students at all levels, and is free to attend.

This program is part of a series of workshops sponsored by HCPSS and The Council of Elders.
Kindergarten Registration Begins March 7th
Children must be 5 years old by September 1 in order to enroll in kindergarten. Every child who is 5 years old by September 1 must be enrolled in a kindergarten program this fall or have an approved waiver.

Volunteer/Observer Vaccine Requirement
All volunteers and chaperones who interact with students, and parents/guardians who are conducting classroom observations will be required to use the PinPoint platform to show proof of full vaccination at least five school days in advance. Read more

All parents/guardians are to perform a COVID-19 health check every day before your student leaves home. Students are not to come to school if they are experiencing any symptom(s) associated with COVID-19 or other communicable disease.
